Projects: Incline Photonics

In order to understand what I have worked on over the years I will outline the key projects I have undertaken in more detail that is possible to include in a resume.

In this section I have kept the description of some projects general in order to protect clients.

Development of a Laser System for Vascular Reflux

Laser systems in the medical industry have traditionally employed inefficient flash-lamp pumped or gas lasers. I was engaged to determine the feasibility of a system based on diode-pumped solid-state or direct diode lasers at a non-standard wavelength. This led to a competative design and development process with three diode manufacturers to specify, build and lifetest modules. This led to a final design that actually produced a module producing 18W - almost twice the power at half the price orginally specified. Parallel to this I was tasked with the Project Management of the development of the system - as a whole - working closely with in-house marketing, engineering, clinical affairs and the electronics systems consultant to establish Product Specifications & Requirements and design proto-types.

Optical Catheter Test System

I was hired to develop a test system to enable both R&D, and later Manufacturing, to test the transmission of a fiber optic catheter used in a medical application. This included a survey of current competative systems and their catheters.

High Power Q-switched Laser Systems for Solar Cell Production

Rebuilt two high power pulsed Nd Vanadate laser systems that were used in the production of solar cells. I had originally developed these lasers for Light Solutions Corporation six years earlier. They were still the best systems they had ever used so I was asked to repair them. It was easier to rebuilt them from scratch from later model parts that still existed.
